Q: I'm looking at getting some international experience for my CV; what's better, volunteering or working?

A: Great question! International experience is a great addition to any CV, and both volunteering and working look equally as impressive. We wouldn't necessarily say that one is better than the other, as both offer different experiences.

Pros of volunteering with BUNAC

  1. You can volunteer for different lengths of time, ranging from 4 weeks to 8 months, so if you're looking for a lot of experience in a short period of time, volunteering is a great choice.
  2. With a range of different project options, there's something for everyone. Whether you fancy coaching sports in South Africa, teaching English or working in an orphanage in Nepal, protecting the immense beauty of National Parks in America, or conserving lions, cheetahs, rhinos or elephants in South Africa, we've got the right project for you.
  3. Have a totally worthwhile experience. BUNAC only works with reputable organisations in the countries we run volunteer projects in, so you can be sure that your money is helping the local community and that you'll get a real, worthwhile experience.
  4. Everything is sorted for you. If you're looking for a pre-arranged placement with accommodation and food sorted before you depart, then a structured volunteer project provides just that.

Pros of working abroad with BUNAC
Working abroad is a completely different experience - the exciting part of working abroad is that venture out into the unknown.

  1. That's where our support services help - two offices in Canada, four in Australia, one in the USA, one in New Zealand and - giving you job hunting and accommodation resources the whole time you're on your BUNAC adventure.
  2. One of the best aspects of working abroad is that it immerses you into the true culture of the city you're in. Whether it's Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA, you'll get a unique and unforgettable experience.
  3. True flexibility. Grab your visa, your backpack and your BUNAC ultimate working holiday package and you're all set to work and live anywhere you like!
  4. The length of time you stay abroad can vary, with 4 months in America, you'll get an intense rush of working, travelling and have the time of your life. Staying up to a year in Canada or Australia, or almost two years in New Zealand will surely give you time to adjust and make you feel like a true local!
