Included in the program are some fantastic excursions that are coordinated every few weeks by our South African partners.
As part of the orientation volunteers visit the Red Location Museum located in the New Brighton Township in Port Elizabeth. It is an Apartheid museum which has also won a number of prestigious architectural awards because of it's innovative design.
Volunteers have the chance to get up close and personal with White Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe and Zebra!
Surfing and dune boarding are the order of the day at Jefferys Bay, which is one of South Africa’s top spots for sun, sea and sand.
Volunteers are provided with transport to and from the world’s highest bungee jump, and adrenaline junkies among the group are free to give it a go ($100 approx.). For those who are happy to give it a miss, there’s also a zip line to try and an idyllic waterfall nearby, which is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy afternoon.
Dining out the most magical setting you can imagine. Right out in the heart of the African Bush, volunteers enjoy a meal under the stars together!
All 4 activities included.
January, April and August departures: Kragga Kama game reserve and Jefferys Bay
Feb, May, October departures: Bloukrans Bungee, Bushcamp meal (subject to change)
There are a number of other activities in addition to those above - so whether it’s a traditional braai, a visit to the local apartheid museum, a dancing and drumming workshop or a trip to watch some local sports match, there’s always plenty for volunteers to get up to.
There are also a number of activities that volunteers can try at extra cost, such a shark cage diving, skydiving and scuba diving courses!
