Our Work Abroad Specialist, Ella, spent two incredible years Down Under. When she thinks back to her time spent in Australia, her mind tends to wander back to the beaches along the east coast and the feeling of the sea breeze while traveling along the Great Ocean Walk. Luckily, she’s shared with us some of her favorite ocean destinations that deserve a spot at the top of your bucket list.

Tallows Beach

In a town that is famous for being the most Eastern point of Australia, has incredible surf and a no shoes, laid-back lifestyle, sits one of the most beautiful beaches, Tallows Beach. Dive straight in with your friends for an evening swim or rewind after a long day at work. With views all the way up the east coast, you’ll be able to see the lighthouse of Byron Bay and if you’re lucky, spot a dolphin or two. My biggest advice when visiting Tallows Beach is to pack a couple of towels, enough food to last the day and be prepared to get lost in all the beauty that Tallows has to offer.

Great Ocean Road - Great OTWAY National Park.

Take a trip along the Great Ocean Road and you are sure to come across many truly mind-blowing beaches. This long-distance walk extends east to west, just over 100km between Apollo Bay and the iconic Twelve Apostles. The walk weaves its way through the National Park which is full of tall forests and windswept cliffs - truly unforgettable views. My favorite memory from this adventure was waking up just as the sun was about to rise and witnessing the most beautiful beach, which was so peaceful at that time in the morning. My top tip for beaches across the Great Ocean Road is to adventure off the trails and take some time to find some of the hidden gems that this breathtaking part of the country has to offer.

Lennox Head

My daily commute to work each day consisted of driving up the east coast from Byron Bay, passing this beautiful lookout. From the sounds of crashing waves on the rocks to the sun beaming down on you, you truly can’t beat this incredible location. This beach is perfect for surfing, swimming and snorkeling, giving you and your friends a fun-filled afternoon. For the foodies among us, Lennox Head has an abundance of delicious cafes and restaurants. My advice when visiting Lennox Head is to make sure you take the time to stop and take in all the beauty that this beach has to offer. Many tour groups will just pass by, not giving you the opportunity to take it all in.

The best part, all these beaches are 10X better in person! Get in touch with us at 866-220-7771 or info@bunacusa.org and let’s start planning your Work Australia trip!
