Our last stop with Oz Experience included a tour of the Great Barrier Reef. From the port at Cairns, we departed on the Passions of Paradise catamaran to Paradise Reef, where “The Reef” was located. Snorkeling, diving, and Glass Bottom Boat Tours were some of the great options we had during this day trip, and needless to say, the sights were epic! All kinds of exotic fish swam around with brief glimpses of sea turtles and dolphins springing up in the distance. This was absolutely one of the most relaxing, yet prolific experiences I had in Australia!

Passions of Paradise

Serving as a day tour, the Passions of Paradise came complete with amazing food, a large netting in front of the boat for sunbathing, and instructional crew members providing information about the different ways to properly snorkel and dive. They also educated us on what type of sea life we would be seeing that day. This was the first time I had properly snorkeled and was a little nervous at first. But with some proper coaching from the Passions crew, I quickly jumped in and could not believe my eyes. The crew warned us to be weary of touching or bumping into the reef, as it can be sharp and any contact with a human’s oils might ruin any coral in the ocean. Passions of Paradise and all cruises or tours I’ve been on in Australia are very conscious of the environment and preserving nature.

Great Barrier Reef Tour

With spending two hours in the ocean, I came up with heaps of underwater pictures of video. The time passed so quickly! Who knew gawking at colorful fish and beautiful coral kingdoms would be so fun? Having scratched the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven wonders of the world, off my bucket list, I could not recommend this cruise any more when traveling to Australia. The Oz Experience was truly a life changing experience.
