Marine Internships Fiji is now closed for 2016.
Name: Sara Louise King (SK)
Position: Internship Manager
Countries visited: Madagascar, South Africa, Morocco, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Mexico Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, South Korea, America & most of Europe
Favorite place you’ve been and why: Madagascar, hands down. This is one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever been for wildlife; it is home to an abundance of endemic species and is one of the richest places for biodiversity in the world. This was my first real travelling experience and since then there has been nothing like it (the diving in particular)
Ideal next trip destination and why: Next on my list is Sri Lanka. It’s got the Indian Ocean so some incredible diving sites, a huge rainforest with lots of wildlife, long beaches and Buddhist ruins, and is supposedly pretty rustic!
Favorite BUNAC Program and why: Marine Conservation in Nanuya LaiLai, Fiji. I used to manage this project in my previous role so I saw first hand the positive impact this work has, from surveying the reefs and setting up Locally Managed Marine Protected Areas to empowering the local community. And what can beat diving off your own private island every day? Plus I’m obsessed with sharks and scuba diving.
What you love about BUNAC: BUNAC is full of people who are just hugely passionate about travelling, and what I love in particular is the wide variety of projects that are available. It’s not just a standard travel organization, it’s getting people the jobs they want and the best opportunities for long term overseas experiences. These aren’t holidays they are life changing adventures.

I couldn’t live without Tea!
I’m embarrassed that I love Taylor Swift, Shake it Off.
A fun fact about me is that I hitch hiked all the way to Morocco, and am a dive master.
