Get comfy because this is an underwater adventure you won't want to miss! Upon arrival you will undergo training sessions to get you fully equipped and ready to get your experience under way. With 1-2 dives/snorkels a day 5 days a week you will find yourself conducting underwater surveys along the Caribbean coastline, take part in community projects and if the timing is right a chance to work with nesting turtles. Amazing!

Project highlights include:

  • Form a comprehensive overview of the ecological health of the reef
  • Determine the species and breeding success of sea turtles (seasonal)
  • Develop the expedition base as an “Ecological Research and Awareness Centre”
  • Develop education and awareness programmes within the local community
  • Protect endangered turtle species and collect valuable data on hatching success and poaching.

Why your work is needed:

Over time many volunteers have contributed to the programme, but it doesn’t stop there. With your help you will be impacting the condition, health and changes to varying sections of the Mesoamerica Barrier Reef. Due to your hard work, partners and local fishermen will now all be equipped a with marine conservation understanding to help work towards making a difference.

**The 4 week experience requires participants to be at least PADI open water qualified or equivalent. For all non-divers, we can put you in contact with local dive centres that can help you qualify before your start date at an extra cost. For all 8 and 12 week volunteers your PADI open water will be included.
