To join this project you will need to be aged between 18-27 year olds. The group size can be up to 16 and our local partners have up to 2 groups in country on any departure.

You do not need any specific qualifications. However, we are looking for volunteers to be motivated, enthusiastic and prepared to carry out practical and physical tasks.

We recommend you book as soon as you can as spaces are available on a first come first served basis. Generally, the latest date we can consider your application is 6 weeks before your UK departure date.

As part of our responsible approach, each participant must provide a police background check before they travel. For this programme the required check is called an ACPO Police Certificate. Information on how to apply for this can be found on the ACPO Police Certificates page. The check costs £45 for a 10 day process. Once received you should send the original document to BUNAC. If you already hold a CRB from an existing or recent employer issued within 3 months we can accept this as an alternative to the ACPO Certificate.

Flights, Visas and Insurance

BUNAC’s preferred travel agent is STA Travel and they will be able to help you book your flights to and from Cambodia.
You can call STA Travel on the BUNAC dedicated phone number 0871 468 0666 or get in touch at bunac@statravel.co.uk
If you’d prefer to make alternative plans then you’re more than welcome to as long as you arrive in time for the start of the orientation. Please make sure you provide BUNAC with proof of your return trip so that we can arrange your airport pick up.

Yes, you will need a visa. We will discuss this with you when you have booked onto the project.

Volunteer placement

Generally you will work between 6 - 8 hours each day with project work and cultural exchange experiences. You may need to expect the odd change to the daily schedule in response to local events and weather etc.

The programme includes food and accommodation, so it’s possible to get by with very little spending money. You may want to budget for some spending money during your weekends off and extra food/ drink not included.

The programme is available for either 6 or 10 weeks. However, if you join the 6 week programme you may be able to transfer on to the longer programme while in Cambodia (for an extra fee).
