Hospitality Internship South Africa is now closed for 2016.
Before you depart to South Africa you will have a solid understanding of the role you are going to be working into, from past experience working / studying within that field of work. On this placement you will be an integral member of the team working with other lodge staff to provide an excellent service to guests, whilst gaining a wealth of ‘on the job’ training.
Welcome Orientation – Weeks 1 - 2
Although you will already have experience in your field, working in the bush / lodge environment is a very new experience. Over the next two weeks you will get an in - depth orientation to prepare you for this totally unique experience, which will take place in a BIG 5 game reserve in the prime game viewing province of Limpopo. This is a great chance to increase your understanding of your surroundings, what will be expected from you and also a chance to meet the other interns who will be interning with you.
The main aim of this course is to add some bush / lodge specific skills and knowledge to add to your professional qualification. It is hoped by the end of the orientation you will have develop basic knowledge of bush/lodge life so that you able to ensure the safety and enjoyment of yourself and the guests.
Placement – Weeks 3 - 8
Now you have finished your orientation you should feel more confident in your new surroundings, and ready to get stuck into putting your newly acquired knowledge into practice. You will be placed at the lodge that you will be working at and your internship will begin.
As your placement has been uniquely tailored to your skills and aspirations, you should find great enjoyment putting your skills to use and developing your skills for a career after the programme. You will have the opportunity to interact with staff for support and develop a unique in - depth knowledge of the South African safari hospitality industry which will greatly enhance your CV.
*Please note that the program can be extended by an extra 10 weeks in the placement stage, taking the program to 19 weeks in total.
