She's BUNAC's Work Abroad Specialist and spent two years living in Australia. Ella's rounded up her top tips for road-tripping the east coast's Great Ocean Road!

This road trip is one of my all time favourite memories of my Working Holiday in Australia. Not only do you get to experience the country’s natural surroundings, but it allows you to travel with the freedom of creating your own plan and hunting out the best isolated beaches along the way. Here are some of my top tips and picks for your adventure on the Great Ocean Road.

Top Pick: Torquay

Not just because this seaside town is one of Australia’s fastest growing, but also because it holds the world-famous Bells Beach. Check out the coastline views from the top of the beach stairs or catch the insane waves with your surf board..

Top Tip:

If you find yourself here at Easter you’ll be able to catch the Rip Curl Pro event!

Top Pick: Port Campbell

Home to the world-famous 12 Apostles - yes, they really are as magical as they look in the photos. Not only can you see the magnificent limehouse stacks, but you are also offered a dramatic view of the coastline. Head just three minutes west to Loch Ard Gorge and you will get to experience its natural beauty and wartime history.

Top Tip:

View the 12 Apostles at sunrise and sunset as they change colour from dark and foreboding in shadow to a brilliant, sandy yellow under the sun.

Top Pick: Whale Watching at Logan’s Beach

Get your camera at the ready and watch these incredible creatures migrating from Victoria in search of warmer seas at Logan’s Beach, Queensland. Not only can you watch this from the sandy dunes of the beach, but there are also viewing platforms that offer breathtaking views across the ocean.

Top Tip:

Head here in June and October and you’ll be in with a chance of spotting one of the incredible whales! With picture-perfect views on every corner, quirky towns outside of your car windows and cliff-facing roads that add adrenaline to your trip, you really will love exploring the Great Ocean Road.
