Name: Ella Dagnall

Job title: Work Abroad Specialist

Describe yourself in three words: Approachable, adventurous and outgoing

What’s your fave song to sing to in the shower? Build Me Up Buttercup

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Paella

Where is your dream city that you want to live? Sydney

Where’s next on your travel bucket list and why? New Zealand. A country that I heard so many amazing stories about during my time travelling Australia, filling my wanderlust mind

Tell us about your favourite travelling memory: From my two years working and travelling around Australia, I have some amazing memories, however there is one that will stick with me forever. After completing three months picking oranges on a farm, seven days a week with three strangers that had now become best of friends, we hired a car, packed the boot with our backpacks and, still in our farming clothes, we hit the Great Ocean Road! The feeling of completing all that work, having our pockets filled with enough money to allow us to tick off items on our bucket lists and experiencing it with three people who I now get to share this amazing memory with, will always fill me with such happiness.

Why do you love working for BUNAC:  Providing individuals with the opportunity to travel on a wide range of programmes, offering them support throughout and changing their outlook on travel, gives me such pride to work for BUNAC. Each individual takes something different from travelling that is treasured by them forever, and I get to act as that helping hand along the way - what more could you want out of a job?!

What would you say to someone who was unsure about going travelling? Uncertainty is a normal feeling for anyone who is thinking about travelling. It’s almost like driving your first car - you have seen the photos of the car you really want, you have prices up all the options including your insurance, you have even taken lessons (like short trips away) and imagined yourself driving that car, however you haven’t taken that test yet. Why is that? Because you are unsure, however once you have taken that test it opens up so many options and it gives you a skill that you will have for the rest of your life, just like travelling!

AND LASTLY what’s your travel philosophy? “Open up your mind to new possibilities” Sometimes when you travel you have an outline or an idea of how you think things will go, however this can change and that is a good thing! By opening up your mind to other possibilities, you allow yourself to experience new things, with new people. These experiences may never have been planned or even been on your bucket list, but are now one of your favourite memories.
