Here at BUNAC we pride ourselves on our sense of team spirit, love for travel and expertise across all of our departments - that's why we want you to get to know us. Meet Adam, he's the king of Summer Camp and has spent a whopping 10 summers living the campfire dream. Having visited 42 US states, Adam is our go-to expert on all things America.

Name: Adam Janaway

Programs Complete: Summer Camp USAWork Canada

Job title: Operations Manager

Describe yourself in 3 words: Summer Camp Soul

What’s your fav song to sing to in the shower: Anything Country

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be: Fish and Chips!

Where is your dream city that you want to live: Lakeville, Connecticut

Where’s next on your travel bucket list and why? Australia, during my travels so far, I have built up a network of Australian friends, so I think I could travel coast to coast without paying for a hotel.

Tell us about your favourite travelling memory: From my 10 years at summer camp I watched self conscious shy children turn into confident leaders of peers. From my travels around the 42 states I have checked off my list, I have seen sunrises and sunsets over mountains, monuments, oceans, cities and lakes that still warm my soul just from the memory. I skied off, what felt like, the end of the world in Canada’s back country and made friends from all over the world in the strangest of situations, that I still meet with regularly today.

Why do you love working for BUNAC: Because the more young people we can help experience countries other than their own, the better the world will be to live in. I’ve learned that we truly have more in common than that which divides us. Maybe world peace is a little optimistic, but I feel like I’m contributing in my own way by working here at BUNAC. Everyone here has every travellers very best interests at the heart of all they do, and work around the clock to make their dreams come true.

What would you say to someone who was unsure about going travelling? It’s okay to be unsure. In fact the uncertainty is the best part! Embrace it, don’t let it hold you back. It’s what will drive you to make friends, and see the world in a whole new light. No matter how confident you think every other traveller is, they are all feeling the same as you.

AND LASTLY What’s your travel philosophy? “What are your options?” Things are not always going to go to plan. It’s a fact. It’s part of the fun! So don’t let getting angry or annoyed distract you from the fun of solving a problem, and probably making new friends as a part of it.
