Work Australia
Thanks to a choice of visas, on Work Australia participants can now
spend up to a year working and traveling ‘down under’. You have
complete flexibility to see as much of this traveler’s paradise as
you wish and take employment along the way to finance your trip.
The new Work and Holiday program visa allows eligible American citizens a stay of up to 12 months in Australia. BUNAC’s Work Australia program goes a step beyond this by providing a full range of services and benefits for the duration of your stay so that you have the security of knowing that you are not on your own in a foreign country.
The special ‘416’ Youth from the US Program, visa allows participants
to work for four months. This is a perfect option for Gap Year
students (between high school and university), those who have not
studied at tertiary level, repeat participants or those who only have a
short time to spend in Australia.
How the program works
The Australian sponsor is BUNAC’s subsidiary, International
Exchange Programs (IEP). The program is administered in
the USA by BUNAC on behalf of International Exchange of
North America (IENA) which in turn sponsors Australian
student exchanges to the USA. The special ‘416’ visa gives
you a great deal of flexibility. You can take any job anywhere
in Australia; you can pre-arrange your job or look after arrival
– it’s your choice.
At the end of the four months, you may want to apply
to change your status to visitor. This allows you to stay for an
additional three month’s travel but you are not able to work.
The cost of the three month visitor visa is currently A$215.
IEP also provides on the spot help and advice for Work
Australia Work and Holiday visa participants. There are no
restrictions on the type of job you can do on this visa, but
you can only work for each employer for up to six months. To download full information on this new program click here.
