About BUNAC (British Universities North America Club)

BUNAC's overseas work/travel and volunteer programmes offer students and young people an enriching and affordable alternative to package tourism. On a BUNAC programme, you have the chance to live and breathe another culture from the inside rather than simply passing through as a tourist. For more than 46 years, BUNAC has made it possible for many thousands of young people to explore the world through work and travel opportunities.

Taking part in a BUNAC programme has often changed lives or affected career choices. It also has the potential to be one of the most fun, rewarding, exciting and challenging things you will ever do. What better way to sample another country than through an extended working stay, during a long summer vacation, or for up to a year in some countries. Whatever the length of your stay, you are likely to reap the rewards for a long time to come.

BUNAC participants can combine the everyday, working life of a country with exciting travel possibilities to some of those destinations you never thought you’d reach. Places like London in Britain, Paris in France, Dublin in Ireland, Toronto in Canada, Sydney or Ayers Rock in Australia, the South Island of New Zealand, or the still developing countries South Africa, Peru and Cambodia all await you! And because you’re earning money through working, an extended trip, from eight weeks to 12 months, becomes more feasible.

Special concessions to make these work and travel programmes possible for students and young people have been hard won from governments over several years. The result is an amazing opportunity for you to create your own work/travel overseas adventure. BUNAC will be there to help you both before you go and after you arrive, your security blanket if things go wrong, but you will be the one to make it happen.
