Application Info & Costs - before applying it
is important to consider costs and double-check that you qualify for the programme.
How to Apply
Step 1:
Book online.
Step 2: Start applying for jobs through our online Job Zone
or your own contacts.
Step 3: Send us a completed participant agreement, reference
(a standard form will be provided which must be completed by an employer/teacher
or lecturer) and proof of your student status.
Step 4: Once we have received the above documents, you’ll get
access to the online insurance booking form and you can make the payment for insurance
and SEVIS. You will then have a pre-departure telephone orientation to discuss your
knowledge of the programme and answer any questions you may have. Your DS-2019 (the
official document which allows you to apply for the visa) will then be requested and full information on how to begin
your application for the J-1 visa will be sent to you.
Step 5: Once your visa has been issued, you are ready to fly
to the USA!
If travelling to America after 8th July you must have a job pre-arranged as jobs
can be difficult to find on arrival at this time.
Once you have found a job
You’ll need to ensure your US employer notifies BUNAC of the details of your job.
Ask them to complete and return the
Employer Job Form (PDF) to you, then complete the participant section on
the form yourself before returning it to BUNAC. But save a copy for yourself first!
