Where will I be living?
Volunteers stay in communal accommodation in Port Elizabeth, with dormitory style rooms and shared bathrooms, and daily transport to the project is provided.
The accommodation has a very sociable atmosphere and is a great place to relax and unwind in the evenings, with a swimming pool, ping pong table, TV/DVD room, pool table and braai area. The accommodation is centrally located to the project locations (5 minutes' drive from the nearest townships) and is not far from the city centre (8 minutes drive).
Throughout term time, the project takes place at local schools, and during school holidays volunteers coach at activity camps.
Who will I be working with on my project?
Volunteers work closely with the permanent local staff. You will also have solid support from the other sports coaching volunteers and local coaches who will be able to exchange views and knowledge on training methods and ideas that you might need. Depending on the sessions, general sports volunteer groups can vary from 10 to 70 people at a time.
