Summer Camp USA

Costs

Summer Camp USA is structured to make it as affordable as possible. The registration costs are kept low because you don’t pay for your transatlantic flight, arrival services and accommodation, visa sponsor costs, support services and other admin expenses up front. Your camp pays these costs to BUNAC when you have completed your contract.

Summer Camp USA payment scheme

BUNAC splits the registration fee into 3 payments so the costs are more manageable.

1st payment when booking an interview	£50
2nd payment after a successful interview	£150
3rd payment due when you are placed	£295

Late fee

If you attend an interview after 1 March, 2012, a late supplement of £50 will apply to the fees listed above. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to maximise your chances of a placement.

Direct placements

Applicants who already have a confirmed contract with a soccer company or camp approved by BUNAC should apply through our Direct Placement scheme. This gives a discount of £200 on the first-time registration fee. Please refer to the soccer and direct placement section, contact camps@bunac.org.uk or call 020 7251 3448 for further information.

Other costs

BUNAC aims to be upfront and transparent about our programme fees but please note that some 3rd party costs will also be payable. These fees are not unique to Summer Camp USA participants and are subject to change:

Police Background Check

£35 (through ACRO)

US Embassy visa and courier fees	£135
This fee covers the amount charged by the US Embassy to process your visa application. There may be extra charges for certain nationality passport holders (not British or Irish) – please contact BUNAC for advice.

Airline charges

Any fuel surcharge charged by the airlines will be payable at the flight booking stage. Any new or increased taxes and changes levied by the airlines or the government (including fuel surcharges) at the time you book your flight with us may have to be passed on to you. At the present time no surcharges are applicable (01 August 2011).

Medical

Your camp will often require you to have a medical before arriving at camp. Charges vary depending on where you live but often students are eligible for a discount or even qualify for a free medical.

Support funds

It is a visa requirement that you take at least $600 (approx. £375) with you when you travel to the USA. Most camps will pay your salary at the end of your contract.
