BUNAC

Flights

Once you have a contract, BUNAC arranges your outward flight date. As a first-time participant, your outward flight is booked according to the location of your camp and the date the camp director wants you to arrive.

Outward flights are usually from London or Glasgow to New York. If your camp isn’t near New York and is situated in another part of the US, you may fly direct to the nearest airport to the camp.

You are likely to travel as part of a group, giving you the opportunity to meet other participants before you even arrive in the US.

You have the freedom to choose your return flight from New York or Los Angeles on a date specified in the BUNAC Flight Programme.

The KAMP flight package isn’t just a return flight ticket to America. It also includes;

  • Your first night’s accommodation in the US at Hostelling International: New York *
  • BUNAC support services in the UK and USA
  • Informative orientation talk*
  • BUNAC reps at the airport on departure from the UK*
  • Moneywise Guide to North America, t-shirt, phone card.

*May vary for those not arriving in New York.

You don’t even have to pay for your transatlantic flight before you go. BUNAC lends you the cost of the flight and other programme expenses such as administrative and placement costs, orientations and camp visits and print and publicity. See Application info.

Travel to your camp

Once you have attended the brief orientation meeting the morning after you arrive in New York, you will be given route and ticket instructions for travel to your camp. Your camp director will reimburse you for this expense.

If your camp isn’t near New York and is situated in another part of the US, you will be given separate travel instructions by BUNAC in London.
