Since 1962, BUNAC has helped almost half a million students and young people work and travel overseas. From working abroad adventures to North America and Australia and New Zealand, volunteer projects in Nepal, the USA and South Africa, to teaching internships in Chile and China, whether your students are looking for summer or pre- or post-university gap year options, BUNAC has the resources, knowledge and experience to help them get there.
Opportunities range from working with children to contributing towards worthwhile community development projects on BUNAC’s overseas teach and volunteer programmes in Nepal, the USA and South Africa. For those interested in longer teaching programmes, BUNAC can offer teaching internships in Chile and China for up 6 months. Flexible work visas for America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are also available with full support throughout the whole experience from visa applications to job and accommodation hunting, and travelling.
Enhancing Student Employability
Encouraging your students to take part in a working or volunteering abroad programme will set them apart from other applicants in a narrowing and highly competitive job market. The skills and experience that they inevitably gain can be translated into a professional context and enhance their employability.
Core benefits include:
Gaining essential career skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership
Experiencing how businesses operate in an international environment
Gaining “life skills” such as independence, initiative and resourcefulness
Gaining a wider perspective of the world through making new friends from around the world and extensive post-work travel
BUNAC Placement Opportunities
Certain programmes are especially suited to university-level students that are enrolled on a specific course of study to provide them with industry work experience.
For example, anyone working towards an American Studies degree should find Work America a particularly rewarding placement, as the programme allows for virtually any type of job to be taken anywhere in the USA for up to 4 months during the summer.
Similarly, students studying teaching or sports coaching would gain great experience from Sports Coaching in South Africa where they would not just teach but develop coaching programmes for different ages and abilities.

This year we have teamed up with STA Travel and will be holding a series of events in STA Travel stores across the UK. Find out when we are near you. We would love to chat to your students at these events about their opportunities to work, volunteer and intern abroad, so would be very grateful if you could let them know about the events taking place near you. If you would like posters, flyers or email text to get the word out to your students, please email email@example.com
